Vanilla Frozen Yogurt

I just found out that my whole life, I've been sheltered.... sheltered from what frozen yogurt is really supposed to taste like. Don't get me wrong, I love the "frozen yogurt" that squirts out of machines into a nice little swirl in a cup, but now I've been enlightened to what real frozen yogurt tastes like. It's a bit tangy, but in a good way. The granola topping is the perfect pairing for this frozen yogurt.

Ingredients:
3 cups plain whole-milk yogurt
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Mix together the yogurt, sugar, and vanilla. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Refrigerate for 1 hour or overnight.
Freeze in your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.

I made frozen yogurt at home too, it was wonderful and delicious I topped with granola and chocolate chips.

How does this compare with ice cream as far as calories are concerned? I wonder how it would freeze and taste with no or low fat yogurt? I think that a tad of almond or Mexican vanilla flavoring would be good with this, too! Illu!

Mama (Meg),
Well, I did use the full fat yogurt, but I consider that more healthy than the heavy whipping cream. :) I still have to watch my portions, though.
